Kids In the Know - a student safety program
Kids In the Know is a provincially-mandated safety program taught by the Guidance Counsellor and/or the classroom teacher and/or the Physical Education teacher. It is focused on Safety Strategies and is a curriculum from the Canadian Center for Child Protection, headquartered here in Winnipeg. Using plush animal characters and catch-phrase Root Safety Strategies, it teaches children how to stay safe at home, at school, and in the community.

New for 2019 / 2020:
Our new staff is excited to take on new challenges and try new opportunities! Check us out all dressed up for Halloween:
The Grade 4 class continues this year with visits to Tuxedo Villa personal care home to see our Senior Buddies. It is a memorable experience!
From 2018 / 2019:
In the photo above, each Kindness Club (Club G-D) member received a compliment and the ball of string, held on TIGHT, and then gave another compliment across the circle to another peer. The result was...
A KINDNESS WEB! We have Penguin Groups

Club G-D is thrilled to announce that we were the lucky recipients of a "Cool 2 Be Kind" grant from the Winnipeg Police Service! We plan to save some of the money for a year-end celebration for the whole school, and the rest will be donated to our friend Strini Reddy, and his partnership with Pauingassi First Nation to provide hockey sticks and pucks to deserving youth.Senior Buddies, our outreach program for Grade 4 leaders, started on November 6th!In half-class groups, the Grade Four students walk over to the Tuxedo Villa Extendicare Personal Care home once per cycle.
There, we connect with residents, playing Bingo, engaging in conversation, trying our hand at Shuffle Board or Bocce Ball, and enjoying the company of our Senior Buddies. See below for photos of our walks over. |

We are a UNESCO candidate school.
Club G-D went to Tuxedo Villa in December to deliver hand-made crafts and to sing carols for the residents!
New for 2018, we have a "conscious kindness club" (Club G-D), where students can meet twice a week at lunch and perform acts of kindness. We are also thrilled to work on a partnership with Omishoosh School in Pauingassi, MB to further our learning about life in the North.
Club G-D is a club on Day 3 and Day 6 of the school day cycle, where Mme Phillips makes an announcement at lunch inviting any interested children in Grades 1 to 4 to come down to the music room and do "Acts of Kindness". Students come once, several times, or every time! Activities include: making Kindness Notes to welcome new students; taking fun learning toys outside at lunch recess and making a conscious effort to look for students who seem lonely or sad to include and invite to play; Sharing Circle to acknowledge the things we already do well and the kindness we already exemplify; and most excitingly, bringing our Kindness out into our community.
Club G-D will be walking over to Tuxedo Villa to visit our Senior Buddies and deliver hand-made crafts on Tuesday, December 18th at 12:00 pm. Please watch for an email from Permission Click to grant your child permission to attend.
Senior Buddies 2018 2019-
Our grade 4 students will enjoy weekly visits to join our friends, the residents at Tuxedo Villa, for a time of visiting and friendship.
The visits will help us work on our communication skills, our empathy, and our ability to enhance the lives of our golden-age senior community members.
Our first visit will include a lively game of seated Bocce Ball, which allows us to start to learn each others' names. We enjoy practicing our conversation skills with a new person, such as our Senior friends Dorothy and Frank.
Socks For Siloam - Social Justice Project with the Grade 4 class
In December 2017, the Grade 4 class asked our school community to donate new, warm socks for adults and kids who are experiencing homelessness in our community. We set a goal of gathering 100 pairs of socks, but our École Tuxedo Park families rallied and gathered over 200! Bravo!
